By Doug Rowe, FightNews Canada With one more victory Calgary Heavyweight Matt Mychajliv will enter the top echelon of professional heavyweights in Canada, a place where he feels he belongs.“I see myself right up there with all the top heavyweights in Canada,” said Mychajliv. “When I watch those guys (J.F. Bergeron, David Cadieux) fight, I don’t see anything that really scares me. It is one of those things I’ve watched them fight and I’ve watched my own fights, and I am right up there with those guys. I’m not worried about anybody in Canada.” On September 16, Mychajliv, 4-0, will get the opportunity to be ranked when he takes on 6-17-0, US Heavyweight Harold Rodriquez at “The Beginning” fight card, at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino in Calgary. A win over Rodriquez in the six round bout should put the Calgary heavyweight in the top ten ranking of the Canadian Boxing Federation. Mychajliv, a former Canadian Amateur Superheavyweight Champion, would have been there earlier but a shoulder injury has sidelined him for the last nine months. Previous to the injury he had put together four straight wins including three KO’s....Read more Monday September 11, 2006By Dave Baggs, FightNews Canada Mississauga, Ontario's Mike "PrimeTime" Post has finally got an opponent for his September 16th date in Hayward, Wisconsin. Post, returning to the ring after 15 months of inactivity, will now meet journeyman Brian Paul in a 10 round Light Welterweight contest. PrimeTime was originally scheduled to face Marty Robbins however Robbins withdrew from the bout leaving the promoter the task of finding a suitable replacement. Mike Post's last ring appearance was back in June of 2005 when the Canuck won a lopsided decision over Jeff Williams (aka Ali Muhammad). Since then, a number of injuries as well as fight cancellations has resulted in a lengthy hiatas from the confortable confines of the boxing ring for the undefeated Canadian prospect. PrimeTime is currently undefeated in 11 bouts, compiling a 10-0-1 mark with 8 wins coming by knockout...Read more Saturday September 9, 2006By Gillian Armstrong, FightNews Canada In an exciting development for the otherwise moribund Vancouver fight scene this week, it was announced that two young Vancouver based fighters are finally turning pro. Andy Mavros will fight as a middleweight, and Jegbefumere Bone Albert will step into the ring as a heavyweight. Both will be trained, and for the time being, managed by veteran coach Kevin Howard. They will train out of Griffin's Boxing in North Vancouver. Mavros has just made the move from Prince George to Vancouver to concentrate on his new career. He is a former silver medalist at the Canadian Championships and has amassed quite an amateur record. The rangy southpaw is a boxer who has his sights set on the Canadian Middleweight title within two years. His sister, Marina Mavros, is also an accomplished amateur fighter based in Vancouver. As readers of FightNews Canada may remember, Jegbefumere Bone Albert was profiled on this site in the spring of this year. He won the Commonwealth gold medal for Nigeria in 2002, competed on the Nigerian Olympic Team in 2000, and was the 2004 Canadian Senior Men's National Light Heavyweight champion. He is following in the footsteps of his two brothers who are already professional fighters. Albert "The Punisher" Onolunose is based in Calgary, and Albert "Bad Boy" Eromosele fights out of Florida. He already has the confidence of 10 seasoned professional fighters who have seen it all, and will be a welcome (and colourful) addition to the Canadian Heavyweight landscape. The Rhode Island Boxing Gym will present their first annual “Tiny Ricci Memorial Show,” on Saturday, October 28th at the historic Columbus Theatre in Providence, Rhode Island. The event, which is being presented as a fundraiser for the Rhode Island Boxing Gym in Warwick, is in memory of Robert “Tiny” Ricci, who started the gym over 15 years ago. Highly anticipated championship clashes can turn out to be duds and walk-off bouts can turn into wars. Fightnews Canada has compiled its list of Canada’s top-ten most-exciting boxers. It takes two to tango and even the best are sometimes brought down to the level of their opponent, but we feel that more often than not, you’ll get your money’s worth and more with our top-ten. In many cases, there might be better boxers than ones listed here, but like a homerun in baseball or a breakaway in hockey, these boxers help bring fans out of their seats. Put any one of them on a card, and chances are that fans will walk away having seen a good fight.....Read more Wednesday September 6, 2006

Bobby Gunn looks ready to make good on his second opportunity at winning the IBA Cruiserweight title. The Canadian is in his final preparations before he climbs into the ring September 16th to face Shannon "The Sandman" Landberg in Hayward, Wisconsin. Look for Gunn to put The Sandman to sleep and bring the world title north of the US border. Wednesday September 6, 2006CBF releases ranking, Brisson stripped! By Dave Baggs, FightNews Canada The CBF (Canadian Boxing Federation) has released it's September 2006 ratings. The biggest surprise has to be the stripping of Winnipeg's Chad Brisson, the Canadian Light Welterweight champ who held the title for two years without making a single defense. Orest Zmyndak, CBF President, has been quite patient with Team Brisson but it looks like his patience has worn thin, especially now with the new talent within the division (Antonin Decarie, Mike Post, and Rocky Floriano) all expressing interest in an opportunity at the national title. "It became quite frustrating for the CBF in dealing with Chad Brisson's management, as emails to Roger Brisson and calls to Pelz promotions were initially ignored. We received a written challenge from Rocky Floriano and attempts to put a fight together by his manager on either the Stele's Nov 18 show or a Sept 29 proposed show in Toronto were not taken seriously. We were told that they did not believe any Canadian fighter was worthy of challenging Chad. He then signed to fight in Philadelphia on Sept 29 and we were told that his management was not interested in promoting Chad in Canada. We certainly wish Chad all the best in the future but we must keep the belt active and currently have many worthy future champions in that division and expect to have a proposal very shortly." ---- Orest Zmyndak, President of the Canadian Boxing Federation. The Canadian Boxing Federation has been quite active in making sure that their championship straps remain in active hands. Ask Troy Ross. The Canadian Cruiserweight champ hasn't seen ring action since his title winning performance back in May of 2005. As a result, the CBF ordered an interim title bout pitting Ryan Henney against Bengali Kourouma which took place September 1st. In Henney's victory, he has assured himself an opportunity to meet Ross for the Canadian title later this year. Should Ross choose to return and decline to face the iron chinned interim champ, the interim label will be removed from Henney's title and he will be recognized as the national cruiserweight champion. To make a long story short, the CBF is done with waiting for stagnant champions to defend their titles. Click here to view the new CBF rating for Sept. 2006. Tuesday September 5, 2006
![]() This was not what Jessica Rakoczy (23-2, 8 KO's) was looking for when she took on Belinda Laracuente Saturday night as part of the undercard for the James Toney - Sam Peter event. The cut, caused by an accidental clash of heads, halted the contest in round 3 and produced a No Contest result for both boxers. Rakoczy was suppose to return to action on September 14th in Lemoore, California but the injury will surely put the Hamilton, Ontario boxer on the shelf for atleast 45 days. (Photo: Rocco Morelli, FightNews.com) Tuesday September 5, 2006The Monday morning punching bag By Dave Spencer, FightNews Canada Still trying to wrap my head around the entire Joachim Alcine fighting for the WBA junior middleweight championship. Today marks day 73 of the proposed 90 days that Alcine had to face-off against champion Jose Rivera for his title. Rivera who won his title in his hometown of Worcester Massachusetts had little interest in meeting Alcine when there are all sorts of big money fights to be had at 154 pounds. Rivera’s trainer John Scully put it best in an email to Fightnews Canada when he said, “The guy wouldn't know Joachim if Joachim walked up to him and stepped on his foot. The fact of the matter is that outside of Canada nobody knows who Joachim is and this is why you will not ever hear a Mayweather or a Rivera, Mosley, Oscar, Margarito or any of the bigger names call him out. If we did that, people all over the world would say, ‘Joachim who?’” Instead of fighting Alcine, Rivera tried calling out every possible opponent at 154 and beyond. Oscar, Mayweather, Vargas, Mosley, Karmazin, Spinks, Margarito, all have been targets of Rivera in efforts of getting a big money fight, one that he certainly deserves....Read more Tuesday September 5, 2006By Dave Spencer, FightNews Canada A blood disorder that is likely to KO the career of the IBF’s top ranked Gabula Vabaza is what apparently called an abrupt halt to his championship bout with Canadian Steve Molitor this past Friday September 1st. South African officials were tight-lipped as to what exactly was the telling blow that knocked Vabaza out a mere two days before his title shot, but according to published reports from South Africa, it is the end of the line for the undefeated 23-0-1 Vabaza. Toronto Star reports quoting James Jardine of Molitor’s management team speculates that the result was a positive HIV or hepatitis result for Vabaza, who has fought exclusively in South Africa and was served a six month suspension two years ago after failing a doping test....Read more Sunday September 3, 2006by Francisco Salazar, FightNews.com On the undercard of the James Toney - Sam Peter clash, Jessica Rakoczy and Belinda Laracuente fought to a no contest when Rakoczy suffered a cut over her left eye in the third round. The scheduled six round bout saw good exchanges between the two fighters. Each fighter had their moments in each round. During an exchange in the third round, Rakoczy suffered a cut over her left eye when both fighters collided heads. The ringside physician looked at the cut and recommended for the fight to be stopped. Under California Athletic rules, the result was a no contest because the fight did not go the mandatory rounds in the scheduled six round fight. Rakoczy, from Hamilton, Ontario stays at 23-2, 8 KO's. Laracuente, from Bridgeport, CT, remains at 22-13-3, 9 KO's. Both fighters add a no contest to their professional records. Sunday September 2, 2006Ring of Fire undercard results By Shawn Roth and Doug Rowe, ringside for FightNews Canada Edmonton Heavyweight Sheldon Hinton improved his record to 3-2 with a majority decision over Toronto’s Roger Cargill (1-4) Hinton began into the first looking to get his left-jab in order, but had trouble catching up with the quicker Cargill, who was moving well from the opening bell. Cargill used a hard, quick right hand near the end of round-one to catch Hinton’s attention. Round-two opened with Hinton finally landing a left jab flush on the chin of Cargill, but Cargill returned the favor soon after when Hinton walked into a stiff right. Two ended with a heated exchange on the ropes, but again, Edmonton native Hinton seemed unable to mount an attack versus the quicker Cargill. The third round saw Hinton finally land two big-time rights but was soon countered with two quality left hooks from Toronto’s Cargill as the round came to a close. Hinton opened the fourth-round attacking with the left-jab, as he continued looking for an opening to hurt Cargill. Both fighters began to show fatigue in the final round and as a result much of the fourth was spent in tight quarters, when, Cargill was docked a point for a questionable low-blow. The final bell came as both men exchanged left hooks. Judges decision for the hometown Hinton certainly raised some eyebrows among FightNews.ca staff, as our card (38-37) showed Cargill as the victor. The cards from ringside read 38-37, 38-37 and 37-37 for Hinton....Read more Saturday September 2, 2006By Shawn Roth and Doug Rowe, ringside for FightNews Canada Toronto's Bengali Kourouma meet Ryan Henney's chin. Kourouma bounced bomb after bomb off of Henney's chin Friday night in Edmonton with little or no effect and in the end it was his chin that betrayed him as Henney scored a tenth round KO over Kourouma to win the Canadian Interim Cruiserweight Championship. By Dave Baggs, FightNews Canada Just before yesterday's cancellation of his IBF Super Bantamweight title bout, Molitor was the word on everyone's lips. Canadian boxing fans talked about how they liked The Canadian Kid's chances at returning home a world champ. Former champ Mark "Too Sharp" Johnson, while not impressed with Molitor's talents, also like the Canuck's chances at victory and immediately called out the undefeated fighter for an opportunity to throw down. Now, another champ has come forward seeking the chance to share the ring with the Sarnia, Ontario boxer, none other than the "Pocket Rocket" Wayne McCullough....Read more Friday September 1, 2006Vabaza withdraws, Molitor fight off! By Durell Wambolt, FightNews Canada Looks like Steve Molitor will have to wait a little while longer for a shot at a world title as it looks like the IBF Super Bantamweight tile match-up with Gabula Vabaza is no more! Word is that Vabaza has withdrawn from the bout due to medical reasons forcing promoter Branco Milenkovic to remove the main event from his September 1st fightcard in Johannesburg, South Africa. The show however, will still go on with 3 other South African title bouts. No doubt that the Canadian Kid will be greatly disappointed in the cancellation after getting himself into quite possibly, the best shape of his career. Nothing yet on if or when the bout between the two undefeated fighters will be rescheduled. Thursday August 31, 2006'Latino' Pascal kicks of GYM Season By Dave Spencer, FightNews Canada Jean Pascal headlines the season opener for promoter Group Yvon Michel’s (GYM) 3rd season as he takes on Lucas Green Arias of Costa Rica for the WBC Latino title on Saturday September 30th. What exactly makes Pascal (13-0 11KO) who was born in Haiti and grew up in Quebec qualify as a Latino we’re not entirely sure, but it will be the undefeated super middleweight’s first scheduled twelve rounder as he takes on Arias (11-1 9KO) whose only loss came at the hands of Henry Buchanan in a ten round decision earlier this year. Expect as many as six fights in the upcoming year for the talented Pascal who has set his goal of breaking into the world’s top five within the upcoming year. In the co-feature, it will be a battle of Quebec as Sebastien Demers defends his Canadian junior middleweight belt against another GYM promoted fighter, Stephane Desormiers. This one looks to be interesting as the undefeated Demers (17-0 8KO) looks to continue his unbeaten string but faces a foe in Desormiers (15-1 8KO) who twice had his number when the two faced off in the amateurs Also on the card, former Canadian Heavyweight Champion Patrice L’Heureux (19-2-1, 11KO) looks to prepare himself for his upcoming grudge match against current Canadian champion David Cadieux (13-1-0, 10KO) scheduled for November. L’Heureux looks to sharpen up his reflexes on as he steps into the ring versus American Travis Fulton (15-15-0, 15KO) for a scheduled six rounder. Expect Cadieux to be at ringside and paying close attention. Also included on the card will be the undefeated Phil Lo Greco (4-0-0, 3KO), and Manolis Plaitis (4-0-0, 2KO) and the pro debut of Adonis Stevenson. Tickets are currently available for the Saturday afternoon show through the Admission Network and the GYM offices. Thursday August 31, 2006Mrdjenovich-Heron to complete trilogy By Doug Rowe, FightNews Canada Nobody is happy about Jelena Mrdjenovich fighting Olga Heron for the third time and that includes Mrdjenovich herself. The WBC and IWBF Superfeatherweight champion beat Heron by majority decision in December of 2003, and again my unanimous decision in June of 2005. This Friday Mrdjenovich will once again be taking on Heron, 4-6 in a six round non-title bout at the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton. “Edmonton doesn’t want to see it, coach (Milan Lubovac) doesn’t want to see it, I don’t, but when no one else will fight. . . . . . . ,” said Mrdjenovich at the initial press conference to promote the Ring of Fire fightcard. “We phoned 30-40 girls and they all said no. What do you do and where do you go?”....Read more Thursday August 31, 2006By Dave Baggs, FightNews Canada Former WIBA Super Bantamweight champ Lisa "Bad News" Brown will once again don the gloves for action on another Rock & Sock Productions, "A Ring of Their Own" card. Brown, 12-2-3 with 4KO's, will box a 4 round exhibition with Belinda "Brown Sugar" Laracuente, a veteran of 39 professional bouts, Thursday night in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Tomorrow night will mark Brown's first ring appearance since her failed attempt at regaining her title when she battled Jeannine Garside to a 10 round stalemate in Edmonton back in June. Having lost her crown to Garside in their initial encounter last November, Brown gave a better account of herself in the rematch and some at ringside were a little shocked that the final decision didn't go her way. A third bout between the two could definitely draw some attention given the success of the first two. However, with the Laracuente (22-14-3 with 9KO's) bout being contested at Jr. Lightweight, the question is "Have we seen the last of Bad News Brown at Super Bantamweight?". Wednesday August 30, 2006By Ron Jackson, FightNews.com Unbeaten Gabula Vabaza feels he is ready to fill the boots of former South African junior featherweight greats like Vuyani "The Beast" Bungu, Welcome Ncita and Lehlohonolo "Hands of Stone" Ledwaba by winning the vacant IBF junior featherweight belt when he meets another unbeaten fighter, the Canadian southpaw Steve Molitor, at the Nasrec Indoor Arena on September 1. It's all systems go for the multi-million rand Branco Sports Productions (BSP) extravaganza, with the Molitor camp, numbering eight members, set to arrive in South Africa this coming weekend ahead of their introduction to the local media on August 28 at the official pre-fight medical at Boxing South Africa's Midrand headquarters. Most of the overseas boxing media predict a win for Molitor next Friday, despite his lack of punching power, with only eight inside the distance wins in his 22 winning fights....Read more Wednesday August 30, 2006

Steve "The Canadian Kid" Molitor looks to be in prime shape heading into Friday's IBF Super Bantamweight title showndown with Gabula Vabaza in South Africa. The Canuck is looking to become the first Canuck to win a World Super Bantamweight strap since the division was created in 1983. Tuesday August 29, 2006By Dave Baggs, FightNews Canada As Steve Molitor heads overseas to challenge for the vacant IBF Super Bantamweight title, many fans of the Canadian Kid will have their fingers crossed in hopes that the Canuck returns home a world champion. While Molitor continues to impress even the harshest of critics, one person he has failed to impress is former 3-time world champion Mark "Too Sharp" Johnson. While Johnson likes Molitor chances of returning holding the IBF strap under arm, Johnson believes that the Sarnia, Ontario boxer is undeserving of the opportunity of fighting for the title. "I think (Steve) Molitor has a good chance to win the World title but he doesn't impress me." Johnson told FightNews Canada. "He's a C class fighter. He hasn't fought anybody. Who has he fought to deserve a title shot? Nobody! If you ask me, he's a bum!" Should Molitor be victorious in South Africa, there is talk of his first title defense being held on Canadian soil (Niagara Falls perhaps). Johnson, the former IBF Flyweight, IBF Super Flyweight, and WBO Super Flyweight champion, would have no trouble heading north of the US border if he was given the opportunity to share the ring as Molitor's opponent that evening. "I will come to Canada and beat him anyday, anytime!" Tuesday August 29, 2006by Eric Scriffiano, FightNews.com When Toronto’s Steve Molitor (22-0, 8 KOs) vies for the vacant IBF Junior Featherweight title on Friday versus unbeaten South African Vabula Gabaza (23-0-1, 15 KOs), he will not only have the support of Canada, but also the encouragement of a new friend from Detroit, Michigan. The Molitor camp needed a skilled southpaw to emulate the style of the left-handed counterpuncher, and veteran Damian Fuller (25-4-1, 12 KOs) was happy to oblige. Possessing an amateur career consisting of well over one hundred bouts and having faced off against the likes of Diego Corrales and Lovemore N’dou in the professional ranks, there is not a whole lot that can surprise Fuller. However, he admitted being a bit taken aback by the Canadian Kid’s poise and maturity....Read more Tuesday August 29, 2006by Al White, FightNews Canada When Dartmouth, Nova Scotia's Jason Snyder and Ted Reno entered the ring last night in Yarmouth for what was being billed as the Southwest Nova Championship, both made eyes directly at the Championship Belt being held aloft by promoter Garland Johnson of Ringo Promotions. Reno, 160, and Snyder, 157 had met previously in a spirited 4 round draw June 17 in Halifax and hoped to settled the score in the lone bout presented on this card. It wasn't to be however, as this equally entertaining bout also ended in a draw. Scores were 39-37 (Snyder), 40-36 (Reno), and an even tally of 38-38. The draw verdict takes Reno's record to 1-1-2 while Snyder is now 0-1-2 . Estimated attendance: 100. Monday August 28, 2006Brisson faces road warrior Jones! reported on FightNews.com Junior welterweight prospect Chad Brisson, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, makes his first start in 12 months when he boxes veteran Russell Stoner Jones, of Denver, CO, in the scheduled 10-round main event Friday, Sept. 29, at the New Alhambra in South Philly. The Brisson-Jones match replaces the original main event featuring Elvin Ayala vs. Darnell Boone, which was cancelled when Ayala decided to take some time off from boxing....Read more Friday August 25, 2006By Dave Baggs, FightNews Canada Looks like the long awaited title showdown between challenger Jason Naugler and Canadian Middleweight champ Larry Sharpe will have to wait a little while longer. Word is that the Acura promoted card has been moved back from its original date of September 30th to November due to medical issues with Naugler; that coming from King John Boxing promotions, promoter of Larry Sharpe. In the meantime, look for the Canadian King of the Middleweights to get some work in before November. King John Boxing had confirmed that Sharpe will appear on their September 23rd show in Winnipeg in a non-title bout. The search for an opponent for Razor is still underway. Our poll asked who you thought would win the Naugler-Sharpe showdown on September 30th. Since the bout won't happen on that day, we'll go ahead and post the results anyways:
52% picked Naugler to KO Sharpe; Overall, 73% of those that voted in the poll picked Naugler to win the Canadian title while just 24% thought Sharpe would retain the belt with a victory. Guess we'll have to wait until November to find out. Wednesday August 23, 2006GYM: Stevenson to make pro debut By Dave Spencer, FightNews Canada Expect the announcement of two new additions to the roster of Montreal based promoter Group Yvon Michel (GYM) who gets their third season underway on September 30th with Jean Pascal headlining a card at the Casino de Montreal. Making his pro debut will be Adonis Stevenson, a former Canadian Senior champion and the only member of our Commonwealth team to make the medal round, taking silver, at the recent games in Melbourne Australia. The Haitian born super-middleweight is regarded as one of the hardest punchers ever in the Canadian amateur ranks and is remembered for a highly entertaining bout he narrowly lost to Jean Pascal in Montreal at the Canadian Senior Championships in 2003. In 2005, Stevenson had a pair of victories over USA national champ, Edwin Rodriguez, knocking him down in each contest. The other signing sees Manolis Plaitis getting a regular shift with the Montreal promoter. The 4-0 welterweight has been perfect since turning pro a little less than a year ago, most recently stopping Yan Lecavalier this past July. Wednesday August 23, 2006Mackillop, Decarie join fatherhood By Dave Spencer, FightNews Canada Monday turned out to be a significant day for two Montreal boxers as they became fathers for the first time. Both Ian MacKillop and Antonin Decarie both became proud papas on the same day and almost the same hour as Mackillop and his fiance Charlene gave birth to a 6 pound 7 ounce girl while Decarie and his partner Jamie outweighed him with their new offspring Nathan who tipped the scales close to 7 pounds. Fightnews sends its congratulations to both families. Decarie fights on the next Interbox card on September 15th while MacKillop may be making an appearance on a UGC mixed martial arts card on September 21st. Wednesday August 23, 2006By Dave Spencer, FightNews Canada They say boxing makes strange bedfellows, that certainly was the case yesterday as Davey Hilton Jr. and Stephan Ouellet sat side by side in a press conference announcing their involvement in the new Club de Boxe Hilton, the newly opened Hilton gym, just southwest of downtown Montreal in the working class neighbourhood of St Henri. The two former foes who fought a total of three times in front of packed Bell Centre houses in excess of 20,000 fans will both be involved in the training of the gym’s stable of fighters, including 2-0 heavyweight Eric Barrak and Wayne John who announced his ascension to the pro ranks as well...Read more Wednesday August 23, 2006The Sandman will be ready for Gunn! On September 16, 2006, The “Sandman” gets his second crack at a world title when he meets Canadian Bobby "Braveheart" Gunn (15-2 w/12 KO’s) for the vacant IBA World Cruiserweight Title at the LCO Casino in Hayward, Wisconsin. Landberg is preparing and training hard to make the most of this opportunity. On May 17th, the Windsor, Ontario boxer sent out an email to the media announcing that she has decided to vacate her title and that her professional boxing career was over after just 4 years and 13 pro bouts. The announcement was far from concrete, leaving the door open for a return if she so decided. "Retire" has been a very difficult word for me to use as I have dedicated approx. 10 yrs of my life to boxing and I am quite aware that many of us return because once exposed to boxing, it is in our blood." -- Kara Ro, May 17th, 2006 The lure proved too great and there proved to be plenty of boxing left inside Kara Ro. Just 4 month into retirement, the former WIBA champ is set to return to the ring September 15th at the Little River Casino in Manistee, Michigan. "I really missed boxing once I was able to decompress from all the drama in Detroit. I want to comeback to do it right. I want to see what I can accomplish with just boxing to focus on. I love the sport so much I think it actually gives me life and I missed that feeling." -- Kara Ro, August 23rd, 2006 The search is currently underway to find an opponent, Ro's first in 15 months following her title winning effort against Belinda Laracuente last May. Wednesday August 23, 2006By Dave Baggs, FightNews Canada After guiding their charge to an unsuccessful bid for the IBF Middleweight championship, co-managers Gary Gittlesohn and Nelson Oliveira have released Kingsley Ikeke (23-2, 13 KO's) from his managerial contract with the two. Nothing official has been released but it looks like Ikeke was the one looking for the immediate release. FightNews Canada can tell you that the breakup was not a happy one, leaving both Gittlesohn and Oliveira rather upset. The 6'4 Nigerian born boxer who makes his home in Toronto, Ontario, last saw action back in December when he was stopped in 5 rounds by Arthur Abraham in an attempt to win the vacant IBF strap. Tuesday August 22, 2006By Dave Baggs, FightNews Canada It's a bout that gives Canadian boxing fans chills when you think of its possibilities. It could have "Fight of the Year" written all over it.
