Everything is in place for a first-class event for GYM's final show at the Casino de Montreal on Saturday December 5th. Penciled in for the main event will be former world champion Joachim Alcine trying to fight his way back to the top as he takes on fellow top-ten contender Christophe Canclaux who is ranked just above him in the WBC rankings.

Alcine was installed as the number ten ranked junior-middleweight at the most recent WBC convention and made a successful comeback attempt under new trainer Buddy McGirt in August, winning a ten round decision over Eric Mitchell. "We're finalizing the details right now and look forwarding to the match-up," said promoter Yvon Michel.

The fight is a revival of one that was to have happened two years ago when Alcine was WBA champion and the French born Canclaux was actively pursuing the Montreal fighter. Unfortunately injuries and Alcine losing his championship belt to mandatory challenger and now three-time champion Daniel Santos prevented the fight from ever happening. Since that time, neither has had any significant fights with Alcine taking a year off and Canclaux fighting sub-.500 opponents in his last two fights.

Also scheduled on the card will be two-time world title challenger Hermann Ngoudjo and Contender series winner Troy Ross. "We're looking for Troy to stay busy," said Michel who described Ngoudjo's fight as "comeback" fight. Ngoudjo fought through a broken jaw in his second attempt for a world title, a 12 round decision loss to Juan Urango for the IBF super-lightweight title.

Good things seem to ahead for cruiserweight Ross, the Toronto fighter is in line for an IBF title eliminator versus Grigory Drodz. The Russian fighter is also due for a fight this month.
