After making his return to the ring with a win against a tough adversary on the August 28th installment of the Budweiser Boxing series, former WBA Super Welterweight Champion (2007-2008) Joachim “Ti-Joa” Alcine (31-1-0, 19KO’s) of Laval, Québec looks to continue his comeback on the 5th of December at the Casino de Montréal. His opponent will be Nice, France’s own Christophe “Rocky” Canclaux (40-2-0, 25KO’s), the former European Champion (2003-2007) and currently ranked #4 by the WBC, #6 by the WBA and #9 by the IBF. Alcine is currently training in Vero Beach, Florida, under the keen eye of world famous trainer James “Buddy” McGirt.

According to Yvon Michel, president of GYM: “Joachim’s goal is to fight for a world championship and regain his crown by 2010. A victory over Canclaux, considering his rakings and reputation, will be a huge step towards that goal. But rest assured, this is no easy fight!”

Bernard Roos, Canclaux’s promoter, has similar aspirations for his ward: “We accepted this fight against Alcine, even on his own turf, because we know that a victory for Canclaux will give him the attention he needs to fight for a world title in early 2010!”

Up for grabs in this match will be the WBO Super Welterweight Intercontinental title. It should also be noted that Canclaux has won his last 15 fights and is undefeated since 2005.

Troy Ross (22-1-0, 15KO) will also be fighting on the same card, Ross, ranked #5 by the IBF, #8 by the WBO, and #11 by the WBC and the WBA, will face off against Brazilian Daniel Bispo (21-11-0, 15KO’s) in an 8 round cruiserweight contest.

Bernard Barré of GYM has nothing but praise for the powerful puncher: “Ross will be in place for an IBF eliminator bout in early 2010, which will be his ticket to the world title in his next fight. I truly can’t imagine that anyone in the division can stand in his way.”

4 other bouts will round out Alcine’s career defining card. "Lightning" Tony Luis (7-0-0, 2KO’s), who is quickly becoming a fan favorite for both his heart and enthusiasm, will be looking to remain undefeated as he squares off against Mexican brawler Isaac Pollo (9-6-0, 7KO’s). Orangeville, Ontario's Logan McGuinness (8-0, 4KO's) will looks to do what Ali Cheebah, Jojo Dan, Kevin Bizier, and Dierry Jean could not: knocking out the ultra tough Cesar Soriano (20-24-0, 13KO’s) of Mexico City. Young Montreal heavyweight Wayne John (1-0-0, 1KO) will take on Stéphane “Brutus” Tessier (3-23-1, 1KO) of Longueil, Québec, and in the opener Lucia Larcinesse (3-4-0, 1KO), protégé of legendary trainer Abe Pervin, makes her first appearance in Québec as a pro. She will face off against American Karen Dulin (1-3-0, 1KO) of Mystic, Connecticut.
