![]() Walchuk out, Pajkic and Dawson in! by Dave Baggs, FightNews Canada 2009-10-15 Canadian Middleweight contender Michael Walchuk (8-1, 2KOs) is off of the King John Boxing promoted card tonight in Winnipeg. Walchuk may have been injured in preparation for his match against Juan Sanchez on the Sharpe-Rumbolz undercard. However, another strong bout has been added to the card that will surely excite those who will attend. Undefeated Canadian heavyweight prospect Neven Pajkic (9-0, 4 KOs) will step into the ring tonight to face off against Halifax's Eddie Dawson (9-3, 7 KOs) in an 8 round heavyweight tussle. Pajkic, fighting out of Toronto, has only fought once in the past 13 months but will look to keep his name in the Canadian title hunt as the expenses of his Maritime opponent. Dawson, who usually fights as a Cruiserweight, has bulked up to 205.5lbs to take on the bigger Pajkic (257.5lbs) to improve his own chances at landing an opportunity at national goal. Walchuk's opponent Juan Sanchez (3-3-1, 2 KOs) will remain on the card as he'll now take on Julius Bonda, an outstanding amateur who will be making his pro debut in front of a Winnipeg audience. Rounding out the dinner/boxing show at the Gates Restaurant will be a all Winnipeg heavyweight affair with Chad Trun (debut) taking on the more experienced Dana Swan (1-5, 1KO) over 4 rounds or less. There was to be one more bout that was cancelled at the last minute with current Canadian welterweight king Victor Lupo (17-1-1, 9 KOs) taking on James Wayka (16-8-1, 8 KOs).
