Each year FightNews Canada reads through all of the yearly reports, watches fight videos, polls it's writers and readers, in an attempt to bring to you, it's awards for the year. 2009 was a GREAT year for Canadian boxing, not only in Canada but on an international stage as well. We had world title fights that involved our champions and world title bouts that didn't. We saw the next wave of future stars in Oscar Rivas, Arash Usmanee, Logan McGuinness, and Eleider Alvarez. We witnessed the return of old friends in Eric Lucas and Joachim Alcine. We crowned new world champions in Jean Pascal and Olivia Gerula and we witnessed Lucian Bute take it to another level (if that were even possible). We also suffered losses, nothing hitting harder than the death of Canada's most beloved warrior in Arturo Gatti.

While we look ahead to 2010 optimistically, we can help but gleem with pride on how Canada did over the past 12 months. FightNews Canada would like to announce the following award winners for 2009........
