by Dave Spencer, FightNews Canada 2010-08-26 With just 72 hours left before the opening bell, it looks as if the GYM promoted show has a main event for this Saturday night in Montreal . Hank Lundy (18-1-1 10KO) of Philadelphia will step in for Edner Cherry and face-off against Toronto based Omri Lowther (14-1 10KO). Both fighters are 26 years old and have been pros for four years. Lundy is coming off his only career loss on a recent edition of ESPN’s Friday Night Fights this past July where he was comfortably ahead on the scorecards before being stopped by John Molina in the 11th round. Saturday’s bout that will be held at Club Metropolis will also broadcast by the network and wraps up the season for the network. The task for Lowther, an Atlanta Ga. native, doesn’t get any easier as he squares off versus the #7 WBO ranked lightweight. Like Lundy, Lowther also fought in July stopping Isaac Bejarano in the fifth round on July 30th in Cancun , Mexico . Undercard action includes light-heavyweight kingpin Jean Pascal’s brother, Nicholson Poulard (14-3 6KO) as the super-middleweight faces Alfredo Contreras who sports a 11-8-1 record and has lost four of his last five. Also featured will be welterweight Kevin Bizier (11-0 7KO) in all Montreal match-up with Leonardo Rojas who has been stopped within the first two rounds in his last two fights. Samuel Vargas, Arash Usmanee and Ahmad Cheiko will also see action on the card. If you wish to contact the author of this article, email Dave Spencer at FightNews Canada |
