United Boxing Promotions will kick off it's 2010 Boxing Series Saturday night (January 16th) under the bright lights of the famed Hershey Centre in downtown Mississauga. The initial event promises to be an exciting night of professional boxing, showcasing some of Ontario's best professional prizefighters as well some as future stars who will be making their pro debuts.

Canadian Welterweight champion Victor Puiu (Lupo) will be making his return to the boxing ring as he'll take on Mexico's Ulises Jimenez (16-12, 12 KO) in an 8 round Welterweight showdown. Puiu (17-1-1, 9KOs) started his pro career at the very same Hershey Centre 6 years ago and his all action style continues to excite boxing fans new and old. This will be Victor's first bout in 23 months and his first bout back in Ontario since 2006.

His opponent, Ulises Jimenez is not stranger to Canada, having climbed through the ropes twice in the province of Quebec. "El Cerillo" battled both Antonin Decarie and Jo Jo Dan tough, losing close decisions in the process. The former WBC Fecarbox Light Welterweight champion is heavy handed, with all but 4 of his victories coming by knockout.

The undercard will feature Toronto's undefeated Heavyweight prospect Neven Pajkic, who will be taking on Jason "The Sensation" Gavern in a 6 round battle of the big boys. Pajkic (10-0, 5KOs) looked very impressive in his last outting, halting Halifax' Eddie Dawson in 2 rounds last October and will look to continue his run toward an opportunity at the Canadian title, currently in the hands of Greg Kielsa.

Another very interesting bout will be an all Ontario matchup of Lightweights, both fighters looking to turn their luck around at the other's expense. Niagara Falls' Scotty Paul (5-3, 1 KO) will face off against Hamilton's Harrison King-McBain (2-2-1) in a 6 round affair that could be the fight of the night.

Syd Vanderpool's latest charge, Juliusz Bunda (1-0) will see action as well taking on Winnipeg's Curtis Demarce (0-0-1) in a 4 round Middleweight bout. With Billy "The Kid" Irwin in his corner, Steve Marsh will look to turn his career around as he'll face off against Quebec Lightweight champion Jorge Banos over 6 rounds or less.

Rounding out the card will be another heavyweight contest, Denton Daley will battle Irving Chestnut in a bout featuring two fighters who will be making their professsional debuts.

The event has already attracted some attention with 65 Corporate tables having already been sold. There are some tables still available but they are going fast. General admission tickets are now available through TicketMaster or through the United Promotions website, www.unitedpromotions.ca.
