Thanks Robert, You did give it your best and you gave lots of young up and coming boxers the opportunity to box and get experience in their home town. Too bad it didnt work out better but thanks for trying when no one else was willing to do it. Brian

Ahhh its a sad day in Hali if this is the case. I hope Tyson can stay active and hit the road now and take some fights. Caveman tyson should fight on some more Moncton cards as they are close to home.

Sad. It's all about your basic economics. Kids ain't desperate enough to trade blows to the head for a few nickles like in the old days. No pool of hungry young fighters means no special talent to emerge from it. Better to play hockey where fighting is easier. Or sit on the chesterfield and play video games. Much safer. Besides, if you want to see two guys hitting each other, you can watch skoolyard huggings or MMA for your instant gratification. Boxing is considered boring like baseball because it isn't always over quickly.

I dunno what guys used to make in the "old days", but there is nobody in Halifax making a living from professional boxing.... Amateur maybe lol, but not pro. If you actually broke down what a guy fighting for 800 or 1k is making on an hourly basis for training his guts out, it makes me think most guys here are not in it for money..... they'd probably make more working at McDonalds. You figure in that the trainer is taking usually 25% or more from the purse, expenses related to getting to & from the gym, gym dues it probably is closer to a break even thing..... Then the whole issues related to politics when it comes to getting to the upper levels, where the real money is, you're probably better off getting a 649 with tag on saturday...... same chances of making any real money.

if this means tyson is finally going to hit the road and take a shot then this is a good thing for him and you caveman becuase halifax is not a good place to build a boxing career, hit the road like everybody else if he is for real.

I still think it can be done in Halifax. There's an emerging pool of young pros here and in New Brunswick to draw from and fans who will support them. Just look at New Brunswick where they have two promoters putting on regular shows ! A nine bout all pro card up against a Moosedheads game was probably too ambitious to begin with. You need to build from the ground up with 5-7 bout cards and choose your dates wisely. Hell, even a hybrid card shared with MMA bouts would do well and draw from both sports, imo. Caveman, I commend you for all you have done over the past few years, but don't let one event, which drew very well considering the circumstances, get you down if you can do it again.
