sure the odds are lower on the road, sure it is harder, sure you might not make as much money but if caveman is as good as he thinks he is he has to take the chance. what's the alternative lose 40K+ and get another 10 round decision vs a bum? come on .

All these people telling cave he shouldn't do it or needs a sponsor need to wake up. the fact is cave DOES NT have a sponsor so he needs a plan b, he needs to work with what he got, he needs to put himself in a position to get a sponsor, it not going to happen in halifax. like mike said maybe if cave has some above average skill or KO power it would happen here but he dont so he has to work with what he got. just give it a shot and stop making excuses, fight for free if u have to just do something rather then talk about how hard it is, god hard to believe u guys are boxers.

Who makes it anywhere without a sponsor? We need to wake up? I guess if your goal is to make $800 bucks a fight, get your name in the paper occasionally, and finish with a 50/50 record than yeah, fighting on the road in guys hometowns is a great idea.
I totally agree he needs sponsor, he's getting older, and he needs to take chances........ But he doesn't need to be stupid.

Once again, you seem to know it all, so tell us...... Who from Halifax has EVER made it anywhere going on the road?
Tell us, just name 1.........

Who makes it far without a sponsor? Julio Cesar Chavez, Bernard hopkins, Roberto Duran, Alexis Arguello just to name a few of hundreds that made it through coming up the ranks the hard way. Everybody looks for the easy way in life now a days but sometimes the long road is the only option !

dude i'm not even FROM nova scotia, i dont know of any of your boxers or wanna be boxers. Anyway I get where youre coming from its that small town negative thinking. ig get it. nobody amounts to anything in halifax probalby not because they can't but because they think like you and caveman. the people who mike just mentioned, what did they all have in common? they were hungry, they wanted it they would do whatever it takes. you guys don't have that. you got two choices either keep doing your little pitter patter fighthing bums and complaining about how nowboyd makes it and you might as well hang them up or step up, grow some balls and take a chance to do something great.

What your saying is not realistic, its not looking for the easy way its looking for the only way...... The only one of these guys who got started in the last 25 years was Hopkins, and he fought his first 20 fights in either Philly ( his hometown ) or Atlantic City....and he had Butch Lewis promoting him.... there was no bullshhit fights happening.
Maybe if I did have a young Roberto Duran I'd take him anywhere, against anybody, but Tyson isn't him...... these are all one in a million type of fighters.
I know its easy to hate on a guy who is in love with himself, and I gave them relentless hell until he fought Casey, and then Banal........ The only thing I hate worse than a big mouth is seeing guys get exploited, and throwing away any chance they might have.
I am sure if a reasonable fight is available, it will happen.

His best chance, and anybody's best chance, is to go to the Olympics as an amateur & get the attention needed to get a Promoter/sponsor/manager.
Obviously that didn't happen, and obviously he doesn't have the kind of style that any Canadian Promoter's are interested in.
Obviously there is nothing good going to happen making your base in Halifax, its been the ruin of may who have tried it...... So the question is how to make it out.
Will taking no chance fights be the solution? Or taking fights where there is a chance a better option?

Everybody who gets in the ring is hungry, if their not they have no business in there.
There are way to many talented fighters who have been used, abused, and left in the gutter trying to be that one in a million guy...... Better of playing the lottery, better chance of making some money.
He just fight a month ago, and you guys are wanting to see him take a bad fight and get KOed ( just like half the fans in Halifax lol ).

The break out year eh? I saw Tyson just the other night sipping on a cold brew. Guy doesn't have the work ethic or drive to be an elite. Real shame the talent was there he just never was hungry enough or had the dedication.

You know what, that is a legitimate comment.... His facebook page right now is him drinking on a patio somewhere.

I used to come on here and call him out when he would run his mouth, and he'd be drinking/lazy/trying to look like a Gangster and be the "Prince of Hali".
When he first won the amateur title, he was hungry and always in shape.... Then it went to his head, and he got lazy & developed the attitude, the whole prince BS.
He was talented enough to give 50%, and still win most of the time, and was happy to be a big fish in a small pond (Halifax ).
Basically, he fucckked himself because of his own arrogance & laziness, and made pretty much half of the crowd in Halifax come hoping to see him get KO'ed.... Never seen a guy get booed like him anywhere.

That being said though, in the banal fight he looked like he used to look 12 years ago... Constant energy, movement, hunger.
For what its worth without Caveman boxing would have died a few years ago too, gotta respect that.

I can totally understand why guy don't like him, its hard to like a guy and want to see him do well when he's telling everybody how great he is and acting like he's Tupac.

Halifax

There are no sponsors in Halifax that will invest into our boxing game. Theres no money into it. If he was selling out 5 thousand tickets each time he fought there then maybe he would get some sponsor money. Just not gonna happen here in Halifax though.

I think now is the time Tyson should take any fight on the road he can get. Get some final big pays and hopefully he can win on the road. Its now or never as he only has 3 to 5 good years left. Might as well go for it. Id be on the phone everyday to promoters asking for fights and trying to land something. Fight every two months for the next year and see what happens. Also Cave will have to realize he will have to take short money at first when on the road. Maybe if he can win another 5 fights Top Rank will take notice of his good winning record and put him in with some of their top guys. Maybe on an under card of a Nonito Donair card. It can happen but he'd have to hustle fights big time.
